Construction of New Taxiway G & Taxilane Y

Constructed by Chemung Contracting, Taxilane Y, and Taxiway G were completed in the Summer of 2020. Funded by the FAA (90%), Virginia Department of Aviation (8%), and the City (2%), the project opened up a much-needed area for development and enhanced airport operations on the east side. The project included the construction of a 320-foot-long box culvert, 32,000 yards of embankment, and 4,900 tons of asphalt. Completed on time, the $3,750,000 project came in slightly under the $3,775,000 budget.
